Will I still be able to hear background noise with the Varibel hearing glasses?

Battery

The Varibel hearing glasses are rechargeable. How long does a recharged battery last?
Subject to being fully charged the battery will last an average of 19 hours. Varibel recommends you charge the battery up at night to ensure it can be used the whole day long

How often should I replace the battery?
Varibel recommends you replace the battery at your nearest audio shop every year. This will guarantee optimum acoustic results.

C

Change of frame

Say I want to change the frame of my Varibel hearing glasses. Can the arms of my hearing glasses be fitted to a different frame?
Yes. It is possible to fit the arms of your hearing glasses to a different Varibel hearing glasses frame.

Children

Are there Varibel hearing glasses for children too?
No. The built-in technology doesn’t allow for this. Four microphones are positioned along the arm. To make them invisible the arm needs to be of a certain length. The arms only come in small, medium and large. An extra small, or shorter arm, is required for (tiny) children. This size isn’t available.

Cost

How much do the Varibel hearing glasses cost?
Due to the lastest technology used, the Varibel hearing glasses are in the higher price bracket. The final price depends on the mono/stereo acoustic solution selected, and the ear bud, receptor, and glass type used. As well as the terms of your insurance policy. Varibel recommends you contact your nearest sales location for a more detailed quote.

D

Digital

Are the Varibel hearing glasses digital?
Yes. The Varibel is a modern, digital acoustic solution fitted with the latest technologies.

E

Ear buds

Do I need ear buds for the Varibel hearing glasses?
Yes. The ear buds are attached to the arm with a magnetic clasp. The ear bud can be easily unclasped from the arm of your hearing glasses.

G

Glass types

Which glass types fit into a Varibel hearing glasses frame?
All glass types fit into the Varibel hearing glasses frame:  from unifocal to multifocal. For more information please contact your optician.

Glasses for reading

I only wear glasses for reading. Are the Varibel hearing glasses right for me?
Yes. As you cannot see long distance with reading glasses you’ll require multifocal glasses. These include an invisible reading component. If you are used to wearing your current hearing aid(s) all day long, you’ll also be able to wear the Varibel hearing glasses throughout the day too.

H

Hearing impairment

Which type of hearing impairment are the Varibel hearing glasses suitable for?
The Varibel is suitable for people with minor to medium-serious hearing loss up to 85 dB.

I

Induction loop

Can you use the Varibel hearing glasses on an induction loop?
Yes. The audio shop can programme this in for you.

O

Own glasses frame

Can the Varibel hearing glasses be fitted onto my own glasses frame?
No, that isn’t possible due to the frame material of the Varibel hearing glasses, which is slightly bendable. This prevents pressure being placed on the electronics whenever the glasses are taken on or off. A charger is delivered along with the Varibel hearing glasses which exactly matches the frame size. We only provide a guarantee on completely original sets.

S

Service, replacement?

Do I lose my hearing glasses when the arms are being serviced?
No. The audio technician shall in this instance replace the arm of your hearing glasses with a dummy arm, free of electronics. You may be given a behind-the-ear aid on loan. So you can continue to wear your glasses during a service.

T

Technical

How do the Varibel hearing glasses work?
The arm of the glasses is connected to the ear bud via a magnetic clasp. Sound travels into your ear via microphones, the receptor and ear bud. The hearing glasses therefore don’t work on the customary bone anchored principle.

Time to become accustomed

Do you quickly become accustomed to listening with, and wearing, Varibel hearing glasses?
Yes. You will become accustomed to the directional sensitivity and speech comprehension relatively quickly thanks to their optimum comfort and sound quality. To become accustomed to your glasses as soon as possible Varibel recommends you wear them for a few hours every day. You’ll soon get used to them and so enjoy a vast improvement in speech comprehension.

U

Unilaterally hearing impaired

I am unilaterally hearing impaired. Are the Varibel hearing glasses right for me?
Yes. It’s possible to adjust your Varibel hearing glasses unilaterally, sometimes known as mono-adjustment. A hearing aid is positioned only on the arm of your impaired ear, not on the arm of your deaf ear.

W

Worsening eyesight

If my eyesight worsens will I need new Varibel hearing glasses?
No. You can just have your glasses replaced.
